UPDATE 6/11/10: From Matter Of Trust, All warehouses are FULL of HAIR! Thank you for all of your hard work, dedication and generosity in assisting with the Gulf Oil disaster. 

 Cloud 9 Spa Salon is grateful to join the global community to combine Hair and Hosiery
in a free and low-tech effort to save the Gulf Coast. Matter of Trust, established in 1998, is an environmental non-profit that has helped clean up oil spills in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond for over a decade with its Hair Clippings for Oil Spills program. They repackage donated hair from salons and fur from groomers and stuff it into donated nylon stockings to create highly absorbent hairmats and booms.

 WHY HAIR?
"Simply put, we shampoo because hair collects oil. It soaks up skin oils, grabs oil from the pollution in the air, and it can soak up petroleum in oil spills." says Lisa Craig Gautier, Executive Director of Matter of Trust.In hopes of holding off the encroaching oil slick, volunteers are building booms on site at temporary warehouses along the coastline of the Gulf of Mexico.

 Matter of Trust is already receiving donations from all 50 states and several other countries.
Cloud 9 has always been a contributor to Locks of Love, but at this time hair clippings from
all Cloud 9 hair cuts will be collected and shipped to Matter of Trust. If you don't get your
hair cut at Cloud 9, encourage the salon you do patronize to get involved with this outstanding
